Albion Square

LYTTLETON's CIVIC SQUARE

The recent completion of Albion Square in Lyttleton is one of Twoman Structures’ most notable achievements.

Lyttleton was badly damaged in the Canterbury earthquakes. Many homes and local buildings were destroyed. The Albion Square rebuild is believed to be a key action in the town’s post earthquake revival.

Twoman was heavily involved in bringing the square back to life. They were involved in the following features: a restored Lyttleton War Memorial Cenotaph with a reinforced concrete core and foundation, concrete terraces and retaining wall using red rock collected from Sumner Road, a pergola made from timber from Lyttleton’s former Cattle Jetty and the playground.

Co-owner Patrick Twomey says Twoman enjoys complex landscaping jobs like Albion Square.

"They are generally unique and tricky designs, and they require a good understanding of all construction disciplines, which is our strength."
